Kanpur, August 10 (HS). If farmers cultivate peanuts scientifically, they will get good profits. Along with this, the income of farmers will also increase. Peanuts are rich in protein, beneficial fats, fiber, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Therefore, its consumption makes the skin look young throughout life. This information was given by Dr. Mehak Singh, Professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding Department of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur on Saturday.

He told that peanut cultivation has an important place among oilseed crops in the Kharif season. The country's peanut production accounts for 34% of the world production. He said that the peanut area in the country is 5.02 million hectares and the production is 8.11 million tons and the productivity is 1616 kg per hectare. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, the peanut area is 1.01 lakh hectares, production is one lakh metric tons and productivity is 984 kg per hectare.

Many beneficial elements are found in peanuts

Dr. Mehak Singh said that peanuts contain 25 to 30% protein, 10 to 12% carbohydrates and 45 to 55% fat. Dr. Singh said that peanuts contain protein, beneficial fats, fiber, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants in abundance. Therefore, its consumption makes the skin look young throughout life. He said that the amount of protein in peanuts is 1.3 times more than meat, 2.5 times more than eggs and 8 times more than fruits.

Know how farmers can protect peanut crop

Dr. Singh said that this season, the peanut cultivation would have been about 30 to 35 days old. So if there is a problem of weeds in the crop, then weeding must be done. If the crop of the farmer brothers is 35 to 40 days old and the pegs have started forming, then do not do weeding. At this time, when the pegs are coming out, the farmer brothers must use gypsum, which increases the amount of oil.

He said that Tikka is a disease in groundnut crop, for its prevention, spray fungicide Mancozeb 50% WP 225 gram per hectare in 500 to 600 liters of water in standing crop at an interval of 10 days. Apart from this, white larva attacks groundnut, for its control farmers should use Chlorpyrifos chemical at the rate of 4 liters per hectare with irrigation water. He has also advised farmers to sprinkle 4 kg borax per hectare for simultaneous ripening of groundnut crop. When the inside of groundnut appears brown in color, then it is the appropriate time for digging.
