After the coup in Bangladesh and the resignation and departure of Sheikh Hasina, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus took oath as the new interim Prime Minister of the country on Thursday. President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath of office and secrecy. Currently, 13 people have joined Muhammad Yunus' cabinet. However, the members included in the cabinet have been given the status of advisors only and not ministers.

The other 13 advisors are: Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Farida Akhtar, Adilur Rahman Khan, Khalid Hossain, Noorjahan Begum, Sharmeen Murshid, Bir Pratik Farooq-e-Azam, Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud, Salehuddin Ahmed, Professor Asif Najrul, AF Hasan Arif, M Sakhawat Hossain, Supradip Chakma, Professor Bidhan Ranjan Roy, Tauhid Hossain.
The cabinet members also include top leaders of the dissident students' group, Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmood, who have spearheaded the student movement in the country for several weeks.
Other members of the cabinet include former foreign secretary Touhid Hussain and former attorney general Hasan Arif. Apart from these, lawyer Syeda Rizwana Hasan, who works on environmental issues, and law major Professor Asif Najrul are also among the cabinet members. Apart from these, human rights activist Adilur Rahman Khan has also got a place in it. The court had sentenced him to two years in jail during the Sheikh Hasina government.
Let us tell you that an interim government has been formed in Bangladesh after 17 years. After this, Sheikh Hasina ruled Bangladesh unilaterally for 15 years. Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina had to resign on Monday due to a massive rebellion and was forced to leave the country.
On this occasion, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated and wished interim Prime Minister Muhammad Yunus on social media. On the 'X' account, PM Modi wrote, “My best wishes to Professor Mohammad Yunus on assuming his new responsibility. We hope that normalcy will be restored soon, ensuring the safety of Hindus and all other minority communities. India is fully committed to working with Bangladesh and fulfilling the shared aspirations of the people of both countries for peace, security and development.

He received his PhD from Vanderbilt University in the US and taught there for some time before returning to Bangladesh.
