US space agency NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have been stranded in space for the past two months. Due to a technical fault in the spacecraft, the Boeing Starliner cannot return to Earth from the International Station. Due to which NASA has postponed its next space mission for a long time. So that the Boeing capsule can get more time on the International Station.
SpaceX said on Wednesday that it has postponed a flight carrying four SpaceX passengers from this month to next month. It could now take off on September 24, according to the agency. Officials said the delay will provide more time to investigate a helium leak and thruster malfunction on Boeing's Starliner capsule in June.
What happened to the Starliner?
This Tuesday, Starliner passengers Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams completed two months in space. NASA is now considering other options to bring Wilmore and Sunita back. In which a SpaceX capsule will bring it back. NASA is now evaluating the preparations of the Boeing capsule and has not set any date for the return of Starliner. A NASA official said that more information about this will be given in the next press conference.
How did astronauts get stuck in space?
Indian-origin NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore have been stranded in space for nearly two months. Both NASA missions are not returning to the International Space Station (ISS) after two months due to a technical fault in their Boeing Starliner spacecraft.
According to information received from NASA, helium leaked in the Boeing Starliner after launch. Also, many of its thrusters were damaged. However, it carried astronauts into space. At present, the Starliner is connected to the space station. NASA needs to return it. So that other spacecraft can connect to the space station.
