Sweden's Armand Duplantis continued his magical run by winning a record ninth pole vault gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
At the end of the day in athletics, Duplantis broke his own world record by jumping 6.025 meters in front of 80,000 spectators at the Stade de France. This is the first time he has achieved this feat at the Olympics. Duplantis, 24, born in Louisiana, competes for Sweden, his mother's native country. The King and Queen of Sweden also witnessed Duplantis' achievement. By winning his second consecutive gold medal and breaking the record by a margin of one centimeter for the ninth time, Duplantis has now almost equaled veteran athlete Sergei Bubka in this event.

World record: Duplantis holds several world records in pole vault. He set a new world record by jumping a height of 6.17 meters in 2019. He broke this record in 2020 and reached 6.18 meters.
