Somnath Temple: In the presence of the first Jyotirlinga Devadidev Shri Somnath Mahadev, the 30-day Shravan Roopi Shotsav will begin on Monday, 05/08/2024 and end on Shravan Vad Amas, 03/09/2024. Then Somnath will become the confluence of bhajan, food and devotion. Devotees from all over the country will visit Somnath Mahadev and get immersed in the chanting of Bholenath Shiva. To provide loving hospitality to every devotee coming at that time, multi-level arrangements have been made by the Shri Somnath Trust.
Special arrangements to increase the number of pilgrims:
Every year more than 10 lakh devotees come to visit Somnath Mahadev during the month of Shravan. And seeing the increase in the number of pilgrims every year, it is being estimated that more devotees will visit Somnath Mahadev this year than all the previous Shravanas. At the same time, special preparations have been made by Shri Somnath Trust regarding Shravan month. Somnath Trust has micro-managed all the departments to make good arrangements for accommodation, food and darshan for a large number of pilgrims. Shri Somnath Temple will also be opened at 4 am on Mondays and festivals this year.
Disabled and elderly friendly facility:
Vehicles will be arranged for elderly disabled pilgrims, handicapped to reach Shree Somnath Temple from the parking lot. A reception hall has been arranged by the Trust in the access area of the Shree Somnath Temple premises. A white tent with RECEPTION HALL written in big letters has wheel chairs for elderly and handicapped, free ₹ 0 tickets for golf carts running in the temple for senior citizens and handicapped and assistance for travellers with special needs. Elderly and handicapped will be given first priority in darshan.
Specialized management and behavioral training:
Pre-Shravan Apart from this, all the officers, employees and support staff of Somnath Trust have been provided temple management and pilgrim management training of international standards before the month of Shravan. Every employee of the Trust was trained according to their field of work in a training program prepared by the experts of “Quality Council of India” covering aspects such as disaster management, cleanliness, passenger-centric approach. This training has been given by the Trust with the intention of increasing passenger convenience. This will benefit lakhs of devotees coming in Shravan.
Worship arrangements in Sankirtan Bhavan:
To provide the best pilgrimage experience at Shree Somnath Temple, a special Puja system has been set up at Sankirtan Bhavan within the temple premises. A team including additional staff, supervisors, panditji will conduct Pujas here including Dhwaja Puja, Pagh Puja, Kalash Puja, Markandeya Puja, Kalsarpa Yoga Nivaran Puja, Rudrabhishek Path, Sankalp. Pilgrims can also register for Puja at a special counter here. Devotees registering for Puja here will also be delivered prasad of the Puja performed by them. Sankirtan Bhavan will be a one stop solution for Puja.
Shri Ram Katha will be organized with the beginning of Shravan and Somnath Shiv Katha will be organized in the latter half of Shravan.
The event has been planned to be organised by Dr. Krunal Bhai Joshi in the presence of Somnath Mahadev from the first day of Shravan month. Apart from this, in the second part of Shravan, devotees will get the benefit of Shrimukhe Somnath Shiva Katha by Dr. Pankaj Rawal, Professor of Purana Department of Somnath Sanskriti University.

Every year during the month of Shravan, Mahamrityunjaya Yagna is performed by the Shree Somnath Trust in the Yagyashala of the Shree Somnath Temple. The Trust organizes the “Mahamrityunjaya Yagna” every year so that future devotees can earn Yagya Punya. Special arrangements have been made so that any devotee can participate in this Yagya and benefit from it. By depositing just ₹ 25 in the Yagyashala in the temple premises, devotees get the Yagya offering material, Raksha Kankal and the virtue of becoming the Yajaman in the Yagya.

The Palki Yatra of Somnath Mahadev in the Somnath temple complex is not just a pilgrimage but a unique devotional experience. Shri Somnath Trust worshipped the form of Mahadev with due rituals and sent off the Palki. At that time, thousands of Shiva devotees gather and earn merit by carrying the Palki of Somnath Mahadev. From now on, apart from Monday of Shravan month, Palki Yatra will also be organized on the full moon day of Shravan month, monthly Shivratri and Amavasya.

Special arrangements for pilgrims:
In the month of Shravan, lakhs of pilgrims will take advantage of the darshan of Somnath Dada, devotees will have to keep moving continuously during darshan and aarti. After the darshan, pilgrims will not be able to stay inside the temple, special police arrangements and special staff will be arranged to ensure that pilgrims do not face any trouble and good order is maintained. RO pure drinking water points have been installed at a short distance from the temple's access area to the entry/exit area and the main complex. Keeping in mind the flow of pilgrims in Shravan, additional arrangements will be made including making more prasad, worship method-cloakroom-shoe room. During Shravanmas, pilgrims will continue to get continuous help and guidance from the reception room. Arrangements have been made to increase the convenience of the pilgrims by doubling the capacity of the trust's free canteen.
Importance of security and safety of pilgrims
Shri Somnath Temple has installed several technologically advanced fire resistance systems like fire suppression system, besides fire extinguishers have been installed at every corner of the temple. Every employee of the temple has also been trained in fire extinguishing. Apart from this, first aid kits and trained staff are kept at the temple office/PRO office in case of any injury to the devotees visiting the temple. All the employees have been instructed to give first priority to the health of the devotees.
Preparations underway at other pilgrimage sites:
Special swing darshan is organized in Shri Bhalakatirthi, Geeta Mandir, Shri Golokdham Tirth during the Shravan festival from Shravan Sud Ekam to Shravan Vad Amsa. Devotees will be able to take advantage of being the host by giving a designated place for this swing darshan.
Occasion for special decoration and decoration worship during Shravan:
Every day during the month of Shravan, special decoration of Lord Somnath Mahadev will be done. For 30 days in the month of Shravan, Somnath Mahadev will be decorated with various religious significance, which includes Sawalaksh Bilva Patra Shringar, Rudraksha Shringar, Bhasm Darshan, Vaishnav Darshan, Shri Krishna Janmotsav etc. Devotees will be able to avail the benefit of becoming Yajaman by paying the prescribed offering amount for this decoration. One-way road:
During the Shravan month, the road from Gurukul Shankh Circle to Shri Ram Mandir will be one-way. After entering the parking lot, vehicles will be able to go to the road connecting Ram Mandir to the highway from the exit gate of the parking lot. Parking facilities, including two-wheeler parking, have also been increased in view of the number of passengers.
Cleanliness is a priority:
Arrangement for night cleaning will be made during the entire month of Shravan through a joint initiative of Shri Somnath Trust, Municipal Corporation, Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board. Visiting pilgrims are requested to participate in maintaining cleanliness in the holy pilgrimage by throwing garbage in the dustbin at the appropriate place.
Religious and spiritual programs:
During the month of Shravan, all the arrangements and spiritual programs are organized by the whole Trust family under the guidance of the Honorable Secretary of the Trust, Shri Yogendra Bhai Desai.
Policemen, SRP jawans and officers are deployed to keep the security system tight during the month of Shravan. Arrangements have been made with the cooperation of local district administrative system, district police system, Nagar Seva Sadan to maintain cleanliness, passenger facilities, traffic system etc. during the month of Shravan.
