Hamirpur 02 August (HS). In an eight and a half year old case of rape, the court of Special Judge POCSO Act Kirtimala Singh, while giving the verdict on Friday, sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. He has been fined Rs 22 thousand. If the fine is not paid, additional punishment will have to be suffered.

Special Public Prosecutor Rudrapratap Singh said that the victim's uncle, a resident of a village in Jaria police station area, had told the police that his six-year-old nephew lives with him, who studies here. On October 23, 2015, at around 3:30 in the afternoon, inside his house, the accused Matadin, a resident of Atrauli village, took off his nephew's clothes and raped him. On hearing the innocent's screams, Ramhet Lodhi and Rajesh Singh of the village reached the spot. The accused fled from the spot. When he came home in the evening, the nephew told him everything crying. The police effectively pleaded the case by getting witnesses to testify under Operation Conviction. On Friday, the court sentenced the accused Matadin on the basis of all the witnesses and evidence.
