Mirzapur, 01 August (HS). The Special Judge (POCSO Act) on Thursday sentenced the accused convicted of raping a minor to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 30,000.
A resident of Kachwan police station area of the district had lodged a complaint on February 14, 2023 against the named accused for raping his seven-year-old daughter. On this basis, a case was registered at Kachwan police station and taking immediate action, the accused was arrested and sent to jail. Effective advocacy was done by prosecution officer SPP Sunita Gupta, investigating sub-inspector Ramswaroop Verma, advocate chief constable Shyamji Yadav and court clerk constable Bittu Singh and woman constable Shivani Singh.
As a result, the court special judge (POCSO Act) additional session judge Surendra Kumar Rai sentenced the convicted accused Deepak alias Latheru son of Jhinguri resident Anantapur under section 376 AB IPC read with section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act to life imprisonment for the rest of his life and a fine of 30 thousand rupees. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six thousand rupees.
