Seven people died due to lightning in Gaya-Nalanda of Bihar, CM expressed grief

Patna, 01 August (HS). Seven people died due to lightning in Gaya and Nalanda of Bihar on Thursday evening. The dead include five people from Gaya and two from Nalanda. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed deep grief over this.

According to information received from the State Disaster Management Department, during the rain in Gaya district, farmers were transplanting paddy in the field, when lightning struck, in which Jitendra Mahato, resident of Panari village, his wife Meena Devi, Shankar Rao, Bali Bhagat and Nanhki Devi died while Raju Kumar, Moti Prajapati, Mote Bhagat and Anil Mahato were badly burnt. All of them have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Gaya DM Tyagarajan said that five people have died due to lightning, which is very sad. As soon as the information was received, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Block Development Officer, CO and Additional Collector were sent to the spot. He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and directed to provide compensation amount to the victim's family as soon as possible.

On the other hand, 48-year-old Brijan Jamadar was working in the field in Pranchak village of Chandi police station area of ​​Nalanda district. During this time, he died after being struck by lightning. Similarly, a teenager bathing in the rain in Moniumpur village of Nagarnausa police station area died after being struck by lightning. The deceased Arun Kumar had a 12-year-old son named Indrajit Kumar.

CM Nitish Kumar has expressed deep sorrow over both these natural disasters. In his message, he said that he is deeply saddened by the death of 05 people in Gaya district and 02 people in Nalanda district today due to lightning.

The CM said that he is with the affected families in this hour of disaster. The Chief Minister has directed to immediately give a grant of Rs. 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. He has directed to provide proper treatment to the people injured due to lightning in Bela of Gaya district and wished for their speedy recovery.
