India alert due to Israel's action in Lebanon: After the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyya and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Iran, many countries including India have advised their citizens to be cautious. The Indian Embassy in Beirut has issued an advisory for its citizens. On the other hand, Australia has advised its citizens to leave Beirut immediately. Israel is being accused of the murder of Ismail Haniyya.
Indian nationals have been asked to minimise movement and avoid unnecessary travel. According to the advisory issued by the embassy, Indian nationals are advised to avoid all unnecessary travel to Lebanon in view of the recent increased activity in the region. All Indian nationals in Lebanon are advised to exercise caution, limit movement and remain in touch with the Indian Embassy in Beirut. An email ID (cons.beirut@mea.gov.in) and an emergency phone number +96176860128 have also been issued by the embassy for contact.
Other countries also issued advisory
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong has advised all citizens to leave immediately. She said, “My message to all Australian citizens and residents of Lebanon is that now is the time to leave.” If you are in Australia and thinking of going to Lebanon, then do not go. There is a serious risk of conflict escalating rapidly in this region. The security situation can deteriorate rapidly.
On the other hand, Canada has also appealed to its citizens to leave Lebanon soon. Canadian Foreign Minister Melonie Jolie wrote this. A message to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. If you are in Canada and thinking of going to Lebanon, do not go. If you are in Lebanon, return home. If the tension increases, the ground conditions may be such that we cannot help you and you may not be able to get out.
Israel-Hezbollah tensions
The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that Shukr was killed in the operation. Israel also blamed him for the attack in the Golan Heights on June 27. Hezbollah says our Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah will speak at Shukr's funeral on Thursday.
