New Delhi, August 1 (HS). Two more Sri Lankan fast bowlers Mathisha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka have been ruled out of the ODIs against India. Pathirana has suffered a shoulder injury and Madushanka a hamstring injury.
Sri Lanka's team is also without Dushmantha Chameera, who is out due to illness, and Nuwan Thushara, who has a fractured thumb. Both these players were also unable to play in the T20 Internationals.
According to ESPNcricinfo, currently Sri Lanka has included right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Shiraz in the team.
In a statement issued by Sri Lanka Cricket in the afternoon, it was confirmed that another uncapped right-arm fast bowler Ishan Malinga has been included in the team. Apart from this, three players batsman Kusal Perera, fast bowler Pramod Madushan and spinner Jeffrey Vandersay have been kept on standby.
“Mathisha has suffered a shoulder injury and since it is the same problem he suffered during the World Cup last year, he has decided not to take the risk,” team manager Mahinda Halangoda said.
Pathirana was injured while fielding in the third T20 match at Pallekele and left the field before bowling a single ball in that match. Meanwhile, Madushanka suffered a hamstring injury during training, Halangoda said. He played only one match in the T20 series. Sri Lanka have lost their last 10 matches against India in all formats.
