Kathmandu, 01 August (HS). Four Indian TV channel groups stopped broadcasting their channels in Nepal from Thursday due to non-payment of money. These four TV channel groups are Zee Network, Sony Network, Star Group and Colors.
Nepal's Ministry of Information and Communication spokesperson Gajendra Thakur told media persons on Thursday that the ministry is taking initiatives to resolve this issue. An attempt will be made to resolve this issue by calling the channel distributors and representatives of Nepal Rastra Bank this evening.
According to Thakur, the broadcast of all channels of Zee Network, Sony Network, Star Group and Colors has been stopped for Nepali viewers from Thursday. The distributor company which bought the broadcast rights of these channels in Nepal has not made the payment for the last three months. Due to this, these channels are not being broadcast in Nepal from August 1.
Regarding this, Devi Prakash Bhattachan, the person in charge of Nepal's largest DTH company Dish Home, said that the channel is not being broadcast today due to government policy. Nepal Rastra Bank has stopped the permission for the payment to be made for the broadcast of the Indian channel. He alleged that despite continuous requests for the last three months, Nepal Rastra Bank has not yet provided the facility of exchange for payment. Due to this, the broadcast of the channel has stopped.
