Prayagraj, July 31 (HS). Allahabad High Court has granted conditional bail to the accused of raping a woman on the pretext of marriage and uploading the obscene video of the victim on social media.
The court said that a person's right to life and liberty cannot be taken away just because he is accused of a crime. This order has been given by Justice Krishna Pahal on the bail plea of Siddharth Rajbhar.
An FIR has been lodged against the petitioner in Bhaluani police station of Deoria. It is alleged that he had physical relations with the victim by making false promises of marriage and also uploaded obscene pictures on social media. On April 12, 2024, the police arrested the accused and sent him to jail.
The petitioner said that he has not uploaded any obscene photos of the victim. Normal photos of the victim have been posted with her consent. She also has no criminal history. The Additional Government Advocate opposed the bail. He said that some obscene photos were found in the gallery of the accused's mobile.
