Hardoi, July 31 (HS). On Tuesday late evening, miscreants riding a bike entered the house of advocate Kanishka Mehrotra in front of Babu Singh Patrakar Gali near Cinema Square and shot him. After this, the attackers fled with their bike riding companion standing on the road. The advocate was brought to the medical college in critical condition, from here he was referred to Lucknow Trauma Center. Where the advocate died.
After the incident, angry lawyers blocked the Lucknow road near the house of the injured advocate at night. The police cleared the blockade with great difficulty. The police is investigating the CCTV footage installed in the house.
According to the information received, advocate Kanishka Mehrotra (64) was living in a rented house on Lucknow Road near Cinema Square for the last four decades. According to his clerk Girish Verma, at around 7:30 in the evening, two people came to the office in the house and asked to meet Kanishka Mehrotra regarding a court marriage case. On this, Girish went inside the house and called Kanishka and brought him. While sitting on a chair in the office, one of the two young men extended a file towards the advocate.
Meanwhile, the other miscreant shot the advocate on his temple with a pistol, due to which Kanishka fell down on the spot. He was immediately taken to Hardoi Government Medical College, from there he was referred to Lucknow. He died in Lucknow Trauma Center.
On Wednesday also, angry lawyers gheraoed the Cinema Square of the city in protest against the shooting of a senior advocate. Hundreds of lawyers who reached the square expressed their anger and demanded the arrest of the murderers and ensuring the safety of the lawyers.
Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadoun said that the police is investigating the CCTV footage of the lawyer's house and the surrounding houses. Apart from this, the police have detained several suspects in the lawyer Kanishka Mehrotra murder case. They are being questioned intensively. The people detained include a SP leader, two contractors and a hotel businessman. According to the information received from the police administration, the murder case will be solved soon.
