Mathura, 29 July (HS) Devotees staying in Braj and worshipping Lord Shiva during the month of Shravan made earthen Shivling from the soil of Braj and worshipped it on Monday. In the Priyakantju temple premises, amidst chanting of mantras, the devotees of Lord Shiva performed Rudrabhishek on the Shivling idols with Bilva leaves, flowers, garlands, milk, curd, honey, water etc. Devkinandan Maharaj prayed for world peace by worshipping Lord Shiva along with the devotees.

Seventeen lakh sixty two thousand Shivlings have been made and immersed in the nine-day Parthiv Shivling Nirman Mahotsav organized at Thakur Shri Priyakantju Temple on Chhatikara Road. On the second Monday of Shravan, devotees worshipped more than three and a half lakh Shivlings. The event will be completed on Tuesday with the making of 21 lakh Shivlings.

While narrating Shivmahapuran, Devkinandan Maharaj said that the gods reside in Braj during the four months of Chaturmas starting from Devshayani Ekadashi. During these four months, the control of nature remains with Shiva. During these days, the maximum views of creation and destruction of nature are seen. Consumption of curd and buttermilk in Shravan is not considered good for health but Lord Mahadev accepts it.

He said that Shiva has no greater devotee than Narayana and Narayana has no greater devotee than Shiva. Shiva is the best Vaishnava among Vaishnavas. Narayana himself accepted this when Veerbhadra asked him this question in the yagya of Daksh Prajapati. He said that God tests his devotee. When a devotee remains equally attached to the devotion of God in times of adversity and happiness, then he becomes close in devotion.

On this occasion, Vishwa Shanti Seva Charitable Trust Secretary Vijay Sharma, Ravi Rawat, Vishnu Sharma, Sunil Singhal, Sudhir Verma, Kamini Mishra, Sheraram Bhadu, Shripal Jindal etc. were present.
