Vladimir Putin's threat to America: Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to object to America's decision to deploy long-range missiles in Germany. Putin said that if America does this, we will start making intermediate-range nuclear weapons. Apart from this, we will also deploy missiles to control Western countries.

Putin said on Sunday that Russia will deploy a new strike weapon in response to US plans to deploy long-range and hypersonic missiles in Germany. MS-6 Tomahawk cruise missiles and hypersonic weapons will be deployed from 2026. Putin was addressing troops at a naval parade in St Petersburg.

The US announced earlier this month that it would begin deploying the weapons in 2026 to reaffirm its commitment to defend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and European countries following Moscow's all-out invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Putin said that if the US implements such plans, we will consider ourselves free from the previously imposed unilateral ban on the deployment of medium and short-range missiles, including enhancing the capabilities of our naval forces. The development of the above weapon systems by Moscow is in its final stages.

Both Washington and Moscow have in recent weeks signaled preparations to deploy medium-range missiles, which were banned for decades under a 1987 US-Soviet treaty. The US withdrew from the pact in 2019, accusing Moscow of conducting missile tests that violated the agreement. Russia has denied the allegations. Putin has for years described the US move as an aggressive move aimed at blocking Moscow's capabilities in Europe. Russian and US diplomats say relations between the two countries have deteriorated significantly since 1962.
