Vienna-VN: Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in Yaal on Saturday to attend the 31st ASEAN Regional Conference on Oceans held here. In the conference, he urged the member countries to take strong steps against all forms of terrorism.
During his visit, Dr. S. Jaishankar along with Deputy Chief Minister of Laos and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs S. Komma Sith today (Sunday) displayed the idol of Ram Lalla from the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, as well as a poster with a replica of Lord Buddha. The stamp tickets were redeemed at the Buddhist temple located in Laos' former capital 'Lwang-Prabang'.
Dr Jaishankar then appreciated the warm designs put up by COMPASIT on the stage and said, “These stamps, for me, symbolize our shared cultures – the Ramayana, Buddhism, and the religion.”
It is noteworthy that on the occasion of release of the statue of Lord Shri Ram, representatives of Mauritius and South-East Asian countries including a delegation from Laos were also present.
At his post, Jaishankar said that a 'Memorandum of Understanding' has been signed between India and Laos. 10 key impact projects were signed in this. This also includes 'Mekong-Gangs Commission and Cooperation'. This also includes the exchange of digital solutions.
Earlier, in his address to the ASEAN summit held in Vienna on Saturday, Jaishankar strongly urged member countries to deal with all forms of terrorism.
Along with this, the Indian Foreign Minister also announced India's full support for ASEAN unity as well as promised India's full support to the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOI-P). It also requested member countries to maintain maritime security and find peaceful solutions to disputes under international conventions and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982.
Observers say that on one hand China is suppressing its neighbouring countries. On the other hand India is pulling the “ASEAN” countries closer through cultural unity and harmony.
