Harmeet Desai lost in the round of 64 match

Paris, July 29 (HS). Indian paddler Harmeet Desai suffered a defeat against France's Felix Lebrun in the round of 64 match of table tennis men's singles at the Paris Olympics on Sunday night.

Harmeet Desai lost to Felix Lebrun 11-8, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8. Lebrun dominated the game right from the first set and finished the match in just 28 minutes.

The 31-year-old Indian paddler had entered the main draw of Paris 2024 after defeating Jordan's Zaid Abo Yemen in straight games in the preliminary round on Saturday but failed to advance in the table tennis men's singles event.

Earlier in the day, India won its first medal at the Paris Olympics when top shooter Manu Bhaker won a bronze in the 10m women's air pistol event.

22-year-old Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting at the Olympics. Bhaker won the bronze medal with a score of 221.7 in the ongoing mega event.
