With this victory, Team India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. In this rain-interrupted match, India had a target of 78 runs in 8 overs as per Duckworth Lewis rule, which Team India achieved with 9 balls remaining.
Chasing the target, the Indian team sent Sanju Samson to open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal with one change. Rain started after two balls were bowled, which stopped the match. However, when the game started, India got a revised target of 78 runs in 8 overs under the Duckworth Lewis rule. Samson failed once again and was dismissed without opening the account. After this, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi took charge and brought the innings back on track with a partnership of 39 runs. Surya played a quick innings of 26 runs off 12 balls. While Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 30 runs off 15 balls. In the end, Hardik Pandya scored 22 runs off 9 balls to give the team victory. Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 2 runs. For Sri Lanka, Mahisha Pathirana, Wanindu Hasaranga and Mathisha Teekshna took 1-1 wickets.
Earlier, Indian team captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 161 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Kusal Perera scored the highest 53 runs for Sri Lanka. Pathum Nisanka scored 32 runs, Kamendu Mendis scored 26 and Charith Aslanka scored 14 runs. While opener Kushal Mendis contributed 10 runs and Ramesh Mendis contributed 12 runs. Ravi Bishnoi took 3 wickets for India. While Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh got 2-2 successes.
