Islamabad, July 29 (HS). Pakistan People's Party led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has taken the initiative to hold talks with the jailed former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. In a statement issued by the party, it was said that if he is willing, the party is ready to hold talks with the former Prime Minister.
Senior PPP leader Khurshid Shah, while talking to the media in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, said, “It is being said that the PTI founder is ready for talks. If Imran Khan is ready for talks then it is a positive thing.” Shah welcomed the possibility of talks and called it a positive development.
President Asif Ali Zardari has always tried to resolve problems through dialogue and the PPP will play its role whenever required, Shah was quoted as saying by the Express Tribune.
The PPP's willingness to cooperate with Khan's party comes amid heightened political instability following the PTI's tough stance against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government.
