NP Maurya said that after the Prime Minister's appeal, Khadi has been linked to the new era of fashion. Khadi has entered the field of readymade garments in a new form. Khadi cloth is being exported from our country to other countries. Khadi is being sold online, this is a big achievement. Khadi is being purchased through Amazon and Flipkart.
On the facilities to Khadi related institutions from the government, he said that the institutions of Gandhi Ashram related to Khadi work are in dire need of government help. A meeting was also held on 19th July for this. The institutions had put forth their views. Nowadays, dyeing and weaving of clothes is being done in Gandhi Ashram of Barabanki, better work is being done there. There is only one plant of the Government of India in Raebareli, where work is being done on cotton and poly. Now some more better arrangements can be made in the state.
He said that the Uttar Pradesh government had got the work of supplying Khadi clothes to basic schools in some districts. This was stopped after some time. Now the money for school dress is sent to the parents. New schemes should be brought to improve the shops selling Khadi clothes in various districts of the state including Lucknow. This will increase employment, Khadi will grow further and the employees here will be happy.
