Gorakhpur, 27 July (HS). International President of Vishwa Ayurveda Mission and former Principal of Lal Bahadur Shastri Ayurveda College, Dr. GS Tomar said that Ayurveda medical system is very effective in the management of tuberculosis (TB). In Ayurveda, detailed description of the causes, symptoms and treatment of this disease is found for thousands of years. Dr. Tomar was addressing a lecture on 'Diagnosis of Tuberculosis – Ayurvedic Perspective' organized by the Department of Diagnosis and Pathology of Guru Gorakhnath Institute of Medical Sciences (Ayurveda College) operating under Mahayogi Gorakhnath University on Saturday.
Former Principal Dr. GS Tomar said that the World Health Organization has planned to make the world TB free by the year 2030. Whereas our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged to make India TB free by the year 2025. He believes that this goal is not possible without the participation of AYUSH. On his instructions, an MoU has been signed between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of AYUSH. In Ayurveda, TB disease is called Rajyakshma. When the immunity of the patient decreases, then a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis causes this disease through infection.
He said that nowadays not only the increasing number of tuberculosis patients but also multi drug resistant tuberculosis is a matter of great concern. He advised that by using medicines that enhance immunity mentioned in Ayurveda along with nutritious food and proper lifestyle, not only the duration of anti-tubercular treatment can be reduced but the effectiveness of the modern medicines used can also be increased by protecting them from their fatal side effects. Not only this, MDR TB can also be prevented by using Ayurvedic medicines together.
Dr. Tomar also shared his experiences about the successful results of Swarna Basant Malti Ras, Yaksmari Loha, Shilajatwaadi Loha along with Chyavanprash and Pippali Ksheerpak for the treatment of TB. Many immunomodulator medicines like Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Giloy, Tulsi, Rudanti, Bala, Mulethi, Black Pepper, Dry Ginger, Turmeric and Pippali are available in Ayurveda which can prove to be a lifesaver in the control of tuberculosis. He has also given this suggestion to the technical group of National Tuberculosis Eradication, so that tuberculosis can be effectively controlled. In the lecture, the Principal in charge of Ayurveda College Dr. Naveen K., Prof. Gopikrishna of the Department of Diagnosis, Prof. Shanti Bhushan, Prof. Giridhar Vedantam, Dr. Sandhya Pathak and Dr. Sarvabhauma along with all the students of Sushruta batch were present.
In the free Ayurvedic medical camp organized at Guru Gorakshanath Institute of Medical Sciences Balapar, International President of Vishwa Ayurveda Mission Dr. GS Tomar gave consultation to 165 patients. During this, he said that if attention is paid to the ideal lifestyle, naturopathy, yoga and diet described in Ayurveda, then 100% treatment of even complex and serious diseases is possible.
