Prayagraj, 26 July (HS). The Kargil war has emerged as a great lesson for future Indian defense preparations. This war strengthened the foundation of Indian military power by expanding many military dimensions. Today the Indian Army is moving towards becoming self-reliant while continuously maintaining its relevance in the global perspective.

The above views were expressed by Colonel Vishu Bhatnagar of Selection Center East Prayagraj as the keynote speaker in a special lecture organized under the joint auspices of the Department of Defense Studies of Ishwar Sharan Degree College and the Jammu and Kashmir Study Center on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

He described various incidents from the presence of terrorists disguised as Pakistani army at various security posts of Kargil by the local citizens of Kargil to the ceasefire on 26 July 1999.
