Rahul Gandhi appeared in Sultanpur court, declared himself innocent

Sultanpur, 26 July (HS). Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi appeared in the Special MP-MLA Court of Sultanpur district on Friday in the case of making derogatory remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Rahul told the judge that he is innocent and has been framed under a political conspiracy.

Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi stayed in the court of Judge Shubham Verma for about 16 minutes and recorded his statement. Judge Verma asked the plaintiff's lawyer to present evidence and fixed the next date of hearing of the case on August 12.

Rahul Gandhi had made an indecent comment on Amit Shah in an election rally in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Regarding this, Sultanpur BJP leader Vijay Mishra had filed a complaint in the court. Rahul Gandhi's lawyer Kashi Prasad Shukla said that Rahul Gandhi's case was scheduled for evidence statement in Special MP-MLA Court No. 15. As per his promise, Rahul reached the court despite being busy in Parliament and recorded his statement. In the said case, the court has fixed August 12 as the date for prosecution evidence.

Shukla said that his client Rahul Gandhi called the allegations against him baseless and said that all these were made out of political malice to tarnish his and his party's image. Now the prosecution will present evidence. The rest of the result will be known later.

Advocate Santosh Pandey told media persons that Rahul Gandhi appeared in person. He appeared before the court and recorded his statement. He declared himself innocent and said that all the cases registered against him are the result of political malice.

It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi surrendered in Sultanpur court on 20 February 2024 during his Nyay Yatra. The court granted him bail on two bonds of Rs 25,000 each. On June 26, the court had summoned Rahul personally on July 26.
