Gorakhpur, July 22 (HS). After serving for 24 years in the TB control and TB eradication program, the senior laboratory technician has decided to adopt three TB patients and help them. In this series, he adopted a married woman, a young girl and a TB-affected student at the District Tuberculosis Center on Monday. Senior laboratory technician Upendra Kumar Rai gave a nutrition packet to the three patients and also assured all possible support. District Tuberculosis Eradication Officer Dr. Ganesh Yadav said that at present 1175 Nikshay Mitras in the district are helping 3069 TB patients by adopting them.
The District Tuberculosis Officer says that Nikshay Mitra is a person who adopts a TB patient and helps him by giving him a nutritious packet, by giving him mental strength and by linking him to social security schemes. Any person or voluntary agency or organization can adopt TB patients. The Nikshay Mitra who adopts the patient has to give the TB patient a nutritious packet containing fruits, soyabean, peanuts, gram, jaggery etc. every month and keep inquiring about his well-being. This boosts the morale of the patient and his medicine is not stopped midway. The TB patient gets cured soon by taking regular medicine and nutritious food.
Upendra Kumar Rai, who became a Nishchay Mitra, said that he had decided before his retirement that he would continue helping patients in the second innings of his life after retirement. Among the three patients he has adopted, the mother of one girl earns a living by running a handcart, while the husband of the second married woman is a labourer. The third young man also belongs to a weak economic class and is somehow continuing his studies. People from all sections of society should come forward to adopt such patients.
On this occasion, DPC Dharmveer Pratap Singh, PPM Coordinator Abhay Narayan Mishra, TB HIV Coordinator Rajesh, STS Govind, Mayank and TB Champion Chandra Prakash were also present.
