IIT's Gatha Mahotsav was a mix of literature and folk dance with laughter

Kanpur, July 22 (HS). The 5th annual festival of Gatha Mahotsav at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur was a tadka of laughter along with literature and folk dance. Here the students not only displayed their talent but the guests also left no stone unturned in making the event lively.

'Gatha Mahotsav 2024' was organized on Monday to celebrate the completion of five years of Gaatha. Official Language Cell (Hindi Cell), Shivani Center for the Nurture and Re-Integration of Hindi, Other Indian Languages ​​and Hindi Sahitya Sabha jointly hosted the program. Deputy Director Prof. Braj Bhushan said that Gaatha is making an excellent contribution to the upliftment of Hindi literature. The growing user base of Gaatha is instilling new values ​​​​in people towards poetry. In the program, the students of Jyoti Badhir Vidyalaya gave a beautiful presentation and mesmerized the audience with Ganesh Vandana and dance drama.

In the program, Sanjay Shepherd's book “Ek Syaah Firdaus” was released by the special guests present on the stage. After this, Jyoti Badhir Vidyalaya and Kanpur Ploggers were honored for their excellent social contribution. After this, in the first session conducted by Dr. Pradeep Dixit, there was a detailed discussion on the tourist places of Uttar Pradesh. Famous writer and travel blogger Sanjay Shepherd, along with Dr. MK Pandey of Delhi University, discussed in detail the interest and future possibilities regarding tourism in the state.

In the second session, there was a detailed discussion on the Hindi poetry genre 'Navgeet'. In this, famous and senior Navgeet writers of Hindi poetry Ram Sanehi Lal Sharma, Virendra Astik and Raja Awasthi discussed in detail the nuances and differences between geet and Navgeet. This session was conducted by well-known litterateur Dr. Rakesh Shukla. In the third session, eminent young writers Bhagwant Anmol and Akanksha Pare discussed the opportunities in literature for new creators and youth. Anand Kakkar, founder of Kahkashan Foundation, conducted this session. In the fourth session, an open mic was organized for young talents, which was conducted by Pallavi Garg. Seven poets including Priyam Dixit, Amit Pandey, Anshul Awasthi, Shubham Tiwari, Akash Ojha, Akshay Mishra and Imtiaz Ahmed participated in the poetry recitation.

During the poetry reading, Yogesh Shukla from Lucknow recited the poem- ​​If life is surrounded by many problems, morning and evening, then face the problems taking the name of Lord Ram, be it morning or evening. Dr. Alok Bejan recited in his presentation- It has been a long time since the landlordship passed, But the district of Allah has nurtured the mansion. Hemant Pandey entertained everyone with his humorous poems. Whereas, the entire auditorium applauded the ghazals of Rahul Sharma from Moradabad. Ajay Anjam shared the powerful line- The help of the cold is being nurtured, the fields got water in June after the crop had wilted.

Earlier, the program was inaugurated by IIT Kanpur's Deputy Director Prof. Braj Bhushan, Prof. Amitabh Bandyopadhyay by lighting the lamp. It was also attended by SIIC's Associate Professor in Charge, Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Shalabh, Dean of International Relations, Rajbhasha Cell (Hindi Cell)'s Prof. Ark Verma, Gatha's Co-Founder and Director Pooja Srivastava and Kavita Cell's Director Dr. Bhavna Tiwari.
