Kumarganj (Ayodhya), July 19 (HS). Padmashree Dr. Khader Wali, known as Millets Man, said that millets are a beneficial food for health. Food habits are the root cause of our diseases. We can prevent diseases by using proper diet.
Dr Khader was addressing the symposium on 'India's health and food tradition in Amritkal' as the chief guest on the occasion of the 9th foundation day of Swasth Bharat Abhiyan at Narendra Dev Agriculture and Technology University here today.
He said that the market has spoiled our kitchen and taste has spoiled our body. Despite knowing it, we are getting sick by eating fast food and are becoming poor by handing over our lifelong earnings to doctors. We should adopt millets in our diet to make the life of the coming generations safe.
He said that the purpose of farming should be to eat, not to sell. If the body is healthy, money can be earned by any means, but if the body is bad, all the wealth of the world will be wasted. Therefore, farmers will have to change their thinking. They will have to come forward for the cultivation of millets. The area of millets will have to be increased.
He stressed that the country can be made healthy by farmers and not doctors. Doctors suppress diseases by giving medicines whereas millets eradicate diseases from their roots. That is why our Prime Minister advocates promoting Shree Anna. If the country becomes healthy, the society will become prosperous.
He said that for years our farmer brothers have been cultivating paddy and wheat. This consumes a lot of water. The result is that water is going underground. In many places, water crisis or drought like conditions are developing. In the cultivation of millets, water consumption is less and the yield is also more.
Presiding over the programme on this occasion, former MP and President of Avsar Trust, Dr RK Sinha said that all types of land are fertile for the cultivation of millets. He said that to increase the productivity of millets, it is necessary to prune them thrice at 21 days, 42 days and 63 days. Millets cleanse our blood cells and make them stronger.
The Mayor of Ayodhya Mahant Girishpati Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University Dr. Vijendra Singh, Geologist of Jamnagar Dr. Hitesh Johnny also addressed the program.
