Bhagalpur, July 19 (HS). Under the banner of Raksha Vahini Swayamsevak, Home Guard jawans on Friday peacefully protested by wearing black badges for 21 point demands. Earlier, the organization had given a memorandum to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in which it was said that the Home Guard jawans will protest by working by wearing black badges for three days. Even after this, if no concrete decision is taken by the government on their demands, then they will go on an indefinite strike.
Pawan Kumar Yadav, Bhagalpur vice president of Bihar Raksha Vahini Swayamsevak, said that the headquarters has made written and oral requests several times to solve the problems of the home guards. Despite this, the attitude of the government and administration towards the home guards has been indifferent. He said that they work with the government 24 hours a day in works like police station, traffic, liquor ban, bank, electricity, municipal corporation, post office, telephone, encroachment removal. Despite this, a daily allowance of Rs. 774 is given for the last 8 years, which is very less as per the rising inflation.
He said that in other states of the country, more allowance and salary is being paid than in Bihar. He said that Supreme Court and High Court Patna had passed the order of equal pay for equal work in their decision. But the government is ignoring this order. On the spot, the Home Guards will give compassionate benefits to the dependents in case of death on duty or total disability, and will pay allowance considering the person on duty till treatment in case of accident. If the government does not fulfill our demand, then we will prepare a further strategy.
