A 28-year-old woman lodged a complaint of rape against her at the women's police station Anuppur, where on the complaint, the police registered a case against Chandrabhan Namdev, son of Radhika Namdev, resident of Ward 10 Pipariya, under sections 366, 376 on July 17 and took it into investigation. Earlier also, on June 3, the woman's sister-in-law had also lodged a complaint against Chandrabhan of assault and molestation, on which the Kotwali police registered a case against the accused under sections 354, 294, 506.
According to the information, the complainant lodged a complaint of rape with the women police station Anuppur. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the women police station in-charge informed Superintendent of Police Jitendra Singh Pawar, on which the Superintendent of Police himself became aware of the whole matter and gave instructions regarding action.
Mahila Thana in-charge Virendra Tiwari said that the complainant had lodged a written complaint that on May 10, 2024, she was at her in-laws' house, where she had a quarrel with her husband. At around 1 o'clock in the night, Chandrabhan Namdev called her and said that your parents have come to pick you up, after which I went with him. Where he forcibly raped me near Dulha Talab and ran away from there. After which I came to my maternal home and did not tell anyone about the incident due to public shame. On June 28, when I returned to my in-laws' house, Chandrabhan Namdev called my brother and sister at my maternal home and started making false complaints about my in-laws, due to which a situation of dispute started to arise between my in-laws and maternal home, due to which I have come to complain about the rape done forcefully with me. On the complaint of the woman, the police have registered a case against the accused Chandrabhan Namdev.
The sister-in-law of the complainant had earlier also lodged a complaint of molestation
The rape victim's sister-in-law had earlier lodged a complaint against Chandrabhan Namdev for assault and molestation on 3 June 2024 at Kotwali Anuppur. The sister-in-law had alleged that Chandrabhan Namdev stopped her on the way and beat her up and molested her while using abusive language, saying that he had forcibly thrown out her sister-in-law from the house and wanted to keep her. On the complaint, the Kotwali police have registered a case against the accused Chandrabhan Namdev under sections 354, 294, 506.
