Meerut, July 17 (HS). Liver transplant has taken place after kidney and cornea transplant in Anand Hospital of the district. This is the first hospital in Meerut to achieve such a feat.
Information about liver transplant was given in a press conference held on Wednesday in Shriram Auditorium of Anand Hospital. Meerut Chief Medical Officer Dr. Akhilesh Mohan said that Anand Hospital has achieved the success of the first liver transplant in Meerut. Earlier, kidney and cornea transplant has been done in Anand Hospital.
Hospital Director Gautam Anand said that this transplant was done in the hospital's special modular operation theatre. This surgery was done using state-of-the-art machines. A team of four doctors of the hospital completed this complex procedure in 12 hours. Anand Hospital Meerut's gastro and liver transplant surgeon Dr Dhruv Jain said that this operation started at 7:30 am and ended at 6:30 pm. The patient is in a good condition and both (donor and recipient) have been discharged after being monitored in the hospital. The female patient had a disease called liver cirrhosis, which is a condition in which water starts forming in the patient's liver. The liver starts getting damaged and spoiled every day. About 75 percent of this patient's liver was damaged. In such cases, liver transplant is the only option. The damaged liver is removed and a healthy part of the liver given by the donor is put in its place. The 28-year-old son gave a part of his liver to his mother, which shows the love and respect of a son towards his mother.
Hospital director Mansi Anand said that the doctors of the hospital performed this complex surgery with the help of doctors from Delhi. This team included Dr. Dhruv Jain, Dr. Ashish George, Dr. Ajitabh Srivastava, Dr. Sanjay Kumar. On this occasion, Dr. Sameer Anand, Dr. Sharad Tyagi, Munesh Pandit, Neetu Nagar, Ajit Mautala, Maria Masih, Sariti Tyagi, Dr. Mayank Sharma, Dr. Aman Pandit etc. were present.
