Jhansi, July 17 (HS). UP STF and Jhansi police have achieved a big success on Wednesday. Both the teams conducted a joint operation and arrested three international ganja smugglers and recovered five quintals of ganja from their possession. The arrested ganja smugglers were carrying ganja hidden in a truck filled with beedis from Orissa to West Uttar Pradesh via Jhansi border. The international price of the seized ganja is said to be in lakhs of rupees.
Acting on the information, STF started intensive checking campaign with Jhansi police at Babina Raksa border. As soon as the truck was seen coming, the police team and STF stopped it and searched it. During this, packets of ganja stuck between bidi bundles were recovered in the truck. STF also detained three ganja smugglers travelling in the truck and seized the ganja. The ganja caught is said to be about five quintals. Its price in the international market is said to be lakhs of rupees. Till the time of writing the news, the police was interrogating the arrested ganja smugglers.
