Sister-in-law and sister-in-law who went to immerse Mayan died by drowning in Yamuna river

Chitrakoot, 17 July (HS). Two women died by drowning in the ghat under the women's bridge under construction in the Yamuna river located in Nagar Panchayat Mau. The women who drowned were sisters-in-law. On receiving information about the incident, the administrative staff and the NDRF team have started searching for the bodies drowned in the Yamuna. SP MLA from Chitrakoot Sadar Anil Pradhan has expressed grief by visiting the spot.

According to the information, Kamlesh of Ragouli village of Karvi Kotwali had come to Mau with his family for the marriage of his brother-in-law Shivmangal's son Lavkush. The wedding procession returned on Tuesday. After the marriage was completed, a dozen women from Ambedkarnagar of Nagar Panchayat Mau had gone to Yamuna Mau Ghat on Wednesday morning for Mayan Visarjan. After completing the rituals, the women started bathing in the Yamuna river. Suddenly two women Kiran (16) daughter of Kamlesh and Kamlesh's daughter-in-law Pushpa (24) wife of Rambharos and Kamlesh's nephew Ramcharan (24) son of Dinesh started drowning after going into deep water. Seeing them drowning, the women started shouting. Hearing the noise, a young man rowing a boat nearby jumped and saved the young man Ramcharan. Meanwhile, both the women drowned in the deep water of Yamuna river. The women who drowned are sisters-in-law. Due to this incident, the happiness of the wedding turned into mourning in the house.

If eyewitnesses are to be believed, this accident happened between pillar number 34-33 of the under construction Mau Mahila Bridge. On receiving the information of the incident, Mau police station in-charge inspector Vinod Kumar Rai and town in-charge Indrajit Gautam reached the spot along with the police force. Divers are searching for the bodies. Mau SDM Rakesh Kumar Pathak also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. When the bodies were not found after a long search, the NDRF team was called and the search is continuing in the river.
