Beer worth lakhs seized in Nawada, smuggler arrested

Nawada, 17 July (HS) Excise SI Pintu Kumar arrested a youth with liquor on Wednesday at the Bihar-Jharkhand border check post under Chitrakoli Panchayat of Rajauli police station area of ​​Nawada district. Excise SI Pintu Kumar recovered a large quantity of beer liquor from a pickup vehicle with the help of a hand scanner. The excise forces posted at the check post are leaving no stone unturned to crack down on liquor traders.

Excise Superintendent Arun Kumar Mishra said that in connection with Bihar prohibition, at the integrated check post, under the leadership of Excise SI Pintu Kumar, with the help of excise forces, a thorough checking of small and big vehicles coming from Jharkhand is done every day. He said that during the vehicle checking, a pick-up vehicle was stopped and a thorough search was conducted, and a large quantity of beer liquor was found in the basement of the pick-up. Also, a driver has been arrested from the spot.

During interrogation the arrested driver told that he was taking the liquor from Jharkhand to Chittaranjan Barh Bihar. Among the arrested liquor smugglers is Sonu Kumar, a resident of Patna district. For the first time at the check post, with the help of a hand scanner, SI Pintu Kumar confiscated a pick up vehicle loaded with liquor. When the pick up vehicle number BR 01GK 6019 was checked with the scanner machine, it was found to contain liquor. After which the driver was taken into custody and checked with the help of the excise forces. Then a huge quantity of beer liquor was recovered.

The Excise Superintendent said that apart from the seized liquor and Bolero pickup vehicle, an FIR has been registered against the arrested people under relevant sections of the Excise Act. He also informed that the arrested driver has been sent to jail in judicial custody after a health check-up. On this occasion, Excise ASI Pancham Lal Dheeraj, ASI Bishu Hembram, Excise constable, SAP force and Home Guard jawans were present.
