Dubai, July 17 (HS). The entire crew of 16 people including 13 Indians is missing after an oil tanker capsized at a port in Oman. No trace of anyone has been found so far. Among the missing people, three crew members are Sri Lankans.
The Maritime Security Center (MSC) has shared this information on X. According to the center, an oil tanker with the flag of Comoros capsized 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madaraka near the port city of Duqm. This port is on the southwestern coast of Oman. It is close to the Sultanate's major oil and gas mining projects. These also include a major oil refinery. It is part of the huge industrial area of Duqm. It is Oman's largest single economic project.
The missing ship has been identified as Prestige Falcon. The Centre has said that the search for the missing people is ongoing. Shipping data showed that the ship, built in 2007, is a 117-metre-long oil product tanker.
