Meerut, July 16 (HS). The team of Anti Corruption Department on Tuesday arrested a JE posted in Rural Engineering Service while taking a bribe of Rs 40 thousand. A case has been registered against the accused JE in Civil Lines police station.
Junior Engineer Dheeraj Kumar posted in Rural Engineering Service located in Vikas Bhawan had demanded a bribe of Rs. 40,000 to release the outstanding amount of a contractor Puneet Jindal. The contractor complained to the Anti Corruption Team and told that he had built a road. The maintenance period of that road is going on. The contractor was owed Rs. 5 lakh 44 thousand for the last half of the project of this road. The JE demanded bribe to release it. On the complaint of the contractor, the Anti Corruption Team informed its higher officials about the matter. On which the team called the contractor on Tuesday and gave Rs. 40,000 to Junior Engineer Dheeraj Kumar through him. As soon as Dheeraj took the bribe money in his hand, the team arrested him. The team reached Civil Lines Police Station with the accused and registered a case against him.
