Jhansi, July 12 (HS). In Kotwali police station area on Thursday night, the bride got ready and waited for the groom, but the groom did not arrive with the wedding procession. The bride was upset and reached the police station. She alleged that her fiancé is a software engineer in Ireland. A demand of one crore rupees was made for the wedding, when the money was not given, the groom's side did not arrive with the wedding procession. After a while, the groom also reached the police station. He alleged that he was locked in a room and beaten with shoes. The police station in-charge has registered a case on the basis of the complaint of both the parties.
The groom Aacharana Jain is a resident of Subhashganj of Kotwali police station area and the bride Aakriti Jain is a resident of Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh. She has also studied engineering. The bride's cousin Bhupendra Jain said that the marriage was fixed five months ago. The engagement took place a month later. 150 people from Jhansi came to Chhatarpur for this. The boy was given a diamond ring and bracelet. Rings were given to the sister, mother, brother and father. Everything happened well.
Bhupendra told that when we reached the hotel on Thursday morning, the marriage rituals started. The Haldi ceremony took place in the afternoon and after that the groom disappeared. A demand of Rs 1 crore was made. Then they settled for Rs 50 lakh. We want action to be taken. Such dowry seekers should be punished. The bride Aakriti Jain said- They were first asking for Rs 1 crore. Later they started asking for Rs 50 lakh. They said if we are not given the money then they will not marry us. Our Haldi ceremony had already been done in the morning, after that they refused to take the wedding rounds. When we came to the police station, we were being pressurized to compromise. They are falsely accusing us of holding us hostage and beating us.
The groom Aacharana Jain alleged that for the past few days, our family members were being treated badly. The bride was finding faults in everything. She said that the event should be done well or else she will not come for the wedding. We were organising the event according to our means. She said that there is no point in asking for one crore or 50 lakh rupees. I and my father were locked in a room and beaten with shoes and now we will not get married. The girl's brother tells me that 28 cases are registered against him and he will trap me in the case. He has connections with politicians. He had threatened to get me locked up in the police station. All the allegations these people are making are false.
Police station in-charge inspector Shailendra Kumar Singh said that complaints have been received from both the sides. The bride's family has accused the groom's family of demanding 50 lakh rupees in dowry. The groom's family has accused the groom of holding them hostage and beating them. Cases are being filed by both the sides. Action will be taken after investigation.
