Meerut, July 12 (HS). Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, member of the Central Monitoring Committee of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, said that harassment of scavengers will not be tolerated at any cost. Scavengers are the priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. An administrative review meeting regarding the implementation and compliance of the Manual Scavengers Act 2013 in the district was held by Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, member of the Central Monitoring Committee, at the Circuit House on Friday.

He said that the officers should provide the benefits of the schemes run by the Central and State Government to the sweepers. The pending cases of dependents of the deceased will be resolved in the Municipal Corporation. The problems of the sanitation workers should be resolved on priority. He gave instructions to constitute a committee under the chairmanship of the district magistrate for the survey of sweepers at the district level. He said that in the way officers, voluntary organizations, etc. doing good work are honored in various programs, in the same way, sweepers doing good work in the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council area should be selected and honored.

He took information about salary payment, weekly leave, equipment and minimum wages of sanitation workers deployed in municipal bodies through outsourcing in the district and said that the sanitation workers should be given 100% benefits of government-run schemes which include skill training, loan grants, employment to educated boys and girls. The square should be named and beautified after Matadeen Valmiki, the hero of the Indian National Movement.

On this occasion, Additional District Magistrate Administration Balram Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Pramod Kumar, City Magistrate Anil Kumar, District Information Officer Sumit Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer Vikas Pankhuri Jain etc. were present.
