Lucknow, July 10 (HS). A sleeper bus collided with a milk tanker moving ahead near Garha village in Behta Mujawar area of Unnao district on Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Uttar Pradesh at 5:30 am today. 18 people including a child died in this accident. About 20 people are reported to be injured.
Amid the screams, the people nearby informed the police and started the rescue operation. Meanwhile, the local police arrived and with the help of passersby, got the people trapped in the bus out.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Arvind Singh said that the bus was going from Bihar to Delhi. Most of the passengers in it were labourers. There were about 50 passengers in the bus. It is possible that the accident happened due to the driver dozing off. Names and addresses of the victims and injured are being collected. The injured have been admitted to Bangarmau Primary Health Center. SDM Namrata Singh reached the medical center and talked to the injured. (Detailed details are awaited.)
