Firozabad, 9 July (HS). Health workers working in the district hospital on Tuesday stopped work and started a dharna demanding a salary hike. On receiving information that health services were being affected due to the dharna, the principal and administrative officer reached the spot and assured the protesting workers, after which the dharna ended.
Health workers were appointed in the district hospital in the year 2021 under Avani Paridhi, since then the health workers have been providing their services. But there has been no increase in their salary yet. Due to which there was anger among the health workers on Tuesday. The angry health workers stopped work and started a sit-in in the district hospital premises demanding a salary hike. There was a stir among the officials of the health department on getting information about the health workers starting the sit-in.
CMS of the district hospital attached to the autonomous state medical college Dr Naveen Jain, Principal Dr Balveer Singh, ADM, City Magistrate Rajendra Kumar and former MLC Dr Dilip Yadav reached there. The principal talked to the employees and heard their problems related to salary hike etc. After this, the principal told the employees that the tenure of the employees appointed under Avani Paridhi has ended six months ago. He has extended this tenure so that the health services are not affected. He also told the employees that for the time being there will be some increase in the salary from 18th July. After this, the new company that will come will increase the salary. On this assurance of the principal, the health workers ended the protest and went to their respective duties.
