Lucknow, July 8 (HS). The Yogi government is busy making the 2025 Mahakumbh divine and grand. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself is taking information about the work of all the departments from time to time. At the same time, Namami Gange Mission has approved a total of three projects for the construction of sanitation related infrastructure in view of Prayagraj Mahakumbh. Its cost is Rs 211.08 crore.
At the same time, a project worth Rs 134.71 crore was approved for interception and diversion and STP works in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh. While Rs 27.02 crore has been approved for increasing the capacity of STP located in Barikala, Lucknow.
This decision was taken in the 55th meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Clean Ganga Mission. The meeting was chaired by Director General Rajiv Kumar Mittal.
Special emphasis on cleanliness
The Yogi government has a special emphasis on cleanliness in the Maha Kumbh. In view of this, Rs 152.37 crore has been allocated for cleanliness related infrastructure for Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. Under this project, 54,400 toilets-urinals and a primary solid waste collection system will be constructed. This will improve cleanliness and river water quality during the Maha Kumbh.
55.57 crores to tap 22 drains originating from Prayagraj
A project worth Rs 55.57 crore has been approved to completely tap 22 drains originating from Prayagraj during the Maha Kumbh. The main objective of this project is to stop the sewage coming out of these drains and treat it completely, so that the uninterrupted flow and purity of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers can be ensured during the Maha Kumbh.
Project worth Rs 134.71 crore approved in Deoband
A project worth Rs 134.71 crore was approved for Interception and Diversion and STP works at Deoband in Uttar Pradesh. The project aims to enhance sewage infrastructure by constructing and implementing measures to prevent and divert sewage and pollution of local water bodies. Whereas, Rs 27.02 crore has been approved for construction of 3.5 MLD capacity augmentation of 1 MLD STP at Barikala in Lucknow. So that the existing sewage treatment infrastructure can be strengthened by treating the increasing flow of sewage.
The National Mission for Clean Ganga is working tirelessly to ensure that pilgrims get a clean Ganga at this holy place, without sewage water flowing into it. Through the National Mission for Clean Ganga, the Government of India is not only providing them a clean and conducive holy place, but is also working in the larger interest of all residents living along the river.
