The corporation distributed cloth bags on International Plastic Bag Free Day


Ghaziabad, July 03 (HS). On the occasion of International Plastic Bag Free Day, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation launched a public awareness campaign to not use plastic bags. On this occasion, street plays were staged at many places and an appeal was made to boycott the demon of plastic. In Kavi Nagar C Block Market, City Zone Ghantaghar and Bajaria Market, Mohan Nagar Zone Rajendra Nagar Lajpat Nagar Market, Vasundhara Zone Vaishali Surya Nagar Market, Vijay Nagar Pratap Vihar and other markets, awareness was created to boycott the banned plastic and an appeal was made to not use polythene bags.

Under Vasundhara Zone, a campaign was also launched against banned plastic as per the roster. Traders cooperated, around 8 kg of polythene was seized and a fine of Rs. 39,000 was collected. Zonal in-charge Sunil Rai said that as per the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner, a plastic free campaign was launched in Vasundhara Zone as per the roster, in which people were appealed not to use polythene bags made of plastic.

Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh said that continuous efforts are being made to make Ghaziabad plastic free, in which campaigns are also being run. On International Plastic Bag Free Day, Saathi Foundation cooperated and a campaign was run under Kavi Nagar Zone in which cloth bags were distributed.
