Hamirpur, 03 July (HS). Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu attacked the BJP fiercely while taking charge of the campaign on behalf of the Congress in the Hamirpur assembly by-election. Sukhu again attacked BJP candidate Ashish Sharma during the election campaign in Hamirpur on Wednesday and appealed to the people of Hamirpur constituency to vote for Congress candidate Dr. Pushpinder Verma.
Sukhu accused former CM Jairam Thakur of ignoring Hamirpur. He said that the defeat of Prem Kumar Dhumal was a big loss for Hamirpur district. No development work was done in the district in the last 5 years. Jairam stopped development in Hamirpur to weaken Dhumal. No minister was made from Hamirpur. Dhumal was the declared Chief Minister in 2017, he was defeated under a conspiracy. No one would have thought that a small district like Hamirpur would get a Chief Minister again. But, for the first time, Congress made a Chief Minister from lower Himachal.
Sukhu said that three MLAs from my district were involved in the conspiracy to topple the government. The MLAs and people of other districts want a Chief Minister from their district and three MLAs from Hamirpur district were busy in removing the Chief Minister. These are the same people who also conspired to defeat Dhumal. The Chief Minister said these things on Wednesday during election campaign in favour of Congress candidate Dr. Pushpinder Verma in Balh, Baloh, Agghar, Darog, Khaggal and Dhaned of Hamirpur assembly constituency.
He said that when there was an attempt to topple the government, 34 MLAs from Shimla, Kangra, Sirmaur, Kullu, two from Una, Chamba etc. stood with me like a rock, but three MLAs from Hamirpur district betrayed me. Among them, independent MLA Ashish Sharma is in the arrogance of money. He resigned in 14 months in arrogance and thought that he would become MLA again for three and a half years by buying votes with money. I request the people of Hamirpur to teach a tough lesson to those who do money power politics.
He said that this election is also about saving the value of people's votes. Because, if those who buy votes with money win again, then the value of votes will vanish. Ashish Sharma is a businessman and those who trade votes should not have any place in politics.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh said that the former independent MLA has made wealth by looting the mineral wealth of the people. He was an independent MLA, if the Congress government was not working then he would have sat in the opposition with the BJP, what was the need to resign.
He said that he is still contesting the election to become an MLA. If work was not being done earlier, then who can expect work to be done now. I am the Chief Minister, our government has been in power for three and a half years, if I become an MLA by mistake, then work will not be done even then, because I have to do the work. So vote for Congress candidate Dr. Pushpinder Verma. Pushpinder is an honest person and is serving you. Give him a chance, whatever work he tells me, I will do it. All the problems of people regarding water, bus and road etc. will be solved. Choose the sustainable Pushpinder instead of the sellable Ashish.
