London: It has come to light that an eight-week pregnant woman of Indian origin was put in jail on false charges in Britain. Three years after the case was revealed to be false, the woman apologized. After which the woman said that it is too late to apologize.
According to a report, the sentence of 47-year-old Seema Mishra was quashed in April 2021. While giving the verdict, the court said that the woman has been sentenced to jail on false charges. The woman was accused of stealing 75,000 pounds while working as a post office manager.
According to Seema Mishra, former engineer Gareth Jenkins apologized to her. But, this apology came too late. Gareth Jenkins wrote in his written apology that he did not know that Mishra was pregnant at the time of sentencing. Notably, former engineer Jenkins was a key witness in the post office scam.
Seema Mishra was kept in Bronzefield prison in southeast England for four months. After which she gave birth to her second son while wearing an electronic tag. After many such cases, the UK government gave millions of dollars in compensation to hundreds of deputy postmasters.
