East Champaran, June 29 (HS). A high-level meeting of the Indo-Nepal Border Coordination Committee was organized in the hall of Parsa ICP, Birgunj, Nepal, with the aim of mutual cooperation and coordination to deal with cross-border challenges. Senior officials of Nepal and India's border districts participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, in-depth discussions were held on border security, vigilance on both sides, control of fake currency notes, illegal arms supply, drugs and narcotics, liquor and tobacco smuggling as well as smuggling of other illegal items. Along with this, discussions were held on cross border crime control, arrest of most wanted criminals, illegal movement of foreign nationals and suspicious people and strengthening of mutual information system to stop unwanted activities. Along with this, consensus was reached on mutual cooperation in the exchange of information related to these activities. Before this, in-depth discussions were held on these related issues between senior officials of both the countries.
The meeting was jointly chaired by the CDO of Parsa district and the District Magistrate of East Champaran. After the meeting, the District Magistrates of both the countries jointly said that the talks took place in a very cordial and positive atmosphere, which will help a lot in stopping cross-border illegal activities in the coming times. At the beginning of the meeting, the District Magistrate of East Champaran and the District Magistrate of West Champaran thanked the Nepalese officials present for the cooperation received from Nepal on the occasion of the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024.
The meeting was attended by the Nepali delegation including CDOs of Parsa and Bara districts along with District Magistrate of East Champaran, Superintendent of Police, District Magistrate of West Champaran, Superintendent of Police of Bagaha, Municipal Commissioner Municipal Corporation Motihari, Additional District Magistrate, Sadar SDO Motihari, SDO Raxaul, DCLR Raxaul, SDPO, DFO, Excise Superintendent East Champaran, SSB Commandant and other officials.
