The trial run of the country's first rope-way transport being built in Varanasi will be in the month of July

Varanasi, June 29 (HS). Preparations are underway for the trial run of the country's first urban ropeway transport being built in Varanasi. 70 percent of the work of the first phase has been completed. A trial run will be conducted from Cantt to Rathyatra in the month of July.

In the first phase, a total of 18 towers are to be installed between Cantt and Rathyatra. Of these, 12 towers have already been erected. The 13th tower will be built before the trial run. In the second phase, work will begin between Rathyatra and Godaulia. A total of 28 towers will be erected in this entire project. 4 stations will be built and the cost will be Rs 807 crore. After the trial of the first phase, this facility will be started for the passengers soon. Under this facility, 750 passengers will be able to reach Godaulia from Cantt in 15 minutes and have darshan of Baba Vishwanath and Maa Ganga. The cable car will pass over the houses. 3000 passengers will be able to travel per hour

The total length of the ropeway will be 3.75 km. 5 stations will be built in it, but there will be only four stations for boarding and deboarding. The fifth station will be built due to technical reasons. The first of these four stations will be Cantt Railway Station, from where the ropeway starts, the second Vidyapeeth, the third Rathyatra, the fourth and the last station will be Godaulia.

3000 passengers will be able to travel on the ropeway's cable car per hour. The number of cable cars will be increased as the number of people increases. In the initial phase, 300 passengers will be able to travel per hour. There are plans to run a 10-seater cable car in this ropeway. Initially, a total of 18 cable cars will run on the ropeway. However, the design of the ropeway is such that the number of cable cars can be increased as per the need.
