Ed. Ravindra Sharma

Kanpur, June 27 (HS). The sections changed under the new criminal laws are going to be implemented from July 1. There is anger among the advocates regarding this and they say that the implementation of the new laws should be postponed until everyone becomes aware. First make everyone aware, then implement the new laws. The advocates registered their protest outside the District Magistrate's office by raising slogans.

Under the banner of Advocate Welfare Struggle Committee, advocates led by former Lawyers Association President Pandit Ravindra Sharma protested against the new laws and reached the District Magistrate's office. Pandit Ravindra Sharma said that the Government of India has made the Indian Judicial Code, Indian Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Act in place of the country's centuries-old IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act, which are to be implemented from July 1. Most of the sections in the three new criminal laws have been changed. The new laws are not even included in legal education yet. Because of this, even the new advocates are not aware of them. The general public has also not been informed about the changed sections. If laws are implemented without making people aware, then we advocates along with the common man will also face problems.

Right now people are aware of the laws, but the police do as they please. If new laws are implemented without making people aware, then police rule will be established in the country and people will be deprived of justice due to lack of information. We say that before implementing the new laws, they should be studied in law schools for at least 5 years and in the meantime people should be made aware of the laws in every village, every house and till then the Prime Minister should postpone the implementation of the new laws. If there is a problem in this, then the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi should fulfill his responsibility in getting the three laws postponed in public interest.

The advocates handed over a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to Additional City Magistrate Ramshankar. During this time, advocates Naresh Chandra Tripathi, Arvind Dixit, Sanjeev Kapoor, Vijay Sagar, Kanchan Gupta, Ram Ji Dubey, Akhilesh Singh, Gaurang Trivedi, Noor Alam, Sandeep Verma, KK Yadav etc. were present.
