Prof. Santosh Bhadoria

Prayagraj, June 26 (HS). In order to promote the official language Hindi, a two-day Hindi workshop was organized for the staff of the 'Ancient History Department' of the University in the Official Language Section, Allahabad University.

Coordinator of the Official Language Implementation Committee, Prof. Santosh Bhadoria said that the Hindi that is in front of you is the result of a tradition of 1000 years. From Amir Khusro to today, Hindi has seen many forms. The tradition from Kabir to Dhumil is the tradition of Hindi. We should use Hindi in execution of work. Hindi language will be propagated more by practice than theory.

He said that the relationship between Hindi and other Indian languages should be strong so that Indianness can develop. Language helps us to become human beings. The manners of being a human come from language. Learning English is a good thing, but expression in mother tongue is the best thing. Only 3 percent of the population in India knows English. It is pleasant that teachers and staff speaking different dialects have come from every corner of India to Allahabad University, due to which the institute looks like a bouquet. Even if everyone is speaking Hindi, we can identify their region from their tone. Today technology has expanded the use of Hindi, but we should have manners of using technology.

Amarendra Chaudhary of Civil Aviation Training College, Bamrauli said that Articles 353 to 351 are related to language. Hindi was accepted as the official language on 14 September 1949. He said that we should pay attention to the choice of words and sentence structure. As per the rules, now only the international form of Indian numerals should be used.

Professor Harsh Kumar, Head of the Ancient History Department, said that it is highly commendable that the Official Language Section visits departments and trains the staff to work in Hindi. These workshops will encourage the staff to carry out their official work in Hindi. Such workshops should continue to be organised.

In the second session, Hindi Officer Praveen Srivastava said that working in Hindi is our legal responsibility as well as moral responsibility. Hindi translator Hariom Kumar said about the use of Hindi in official work that we should have the name of the department, name of the chairman, name of the faculty, seals, subject matter on letter heads files etc. along with a total of 14 types of documents in bilingual form. Under Official Language Rule 5, letters received in Hindi should be replied to in Hindi only. The workshop was conducted by Hindi translator Hariom Kumar and the vote of thanks was given by Hindi officer Praveen Srivastava.
