Mirzapur, June 25 (HS). District President of All India Sahitya Parishad Rajpati Ojha and other members submitted a memorandum to Municipal Council President Shyamsundar Kesari on Tuesday regarding the deteriorating image of Mirzapur due to the web series and demanded a ban on the web series.
Shri Ojha said that Mirzapur is an important district from literary, cultural and religious point of view. It has been the workplace of eminent literary figures like Acharya Ramchandra Shukla, Premdhan, Pandey Bechan Sharma (Ugra), Bang Mahila, while it is the world famous holy place of Jagat Janani Maa Vindhyavasini, to which the faith of crores of people is associated. Mirzapur web series is hurting the image of Mirzapur. Violence, crime and gang war have been given prominence in the web series, which has had a negative impact on the image of Mirzapur. People have also started associating Mirzapur city with similar crime and violence. This is affecting the social prestige and respect of the residents here. Criminals and their actions have been glorified in the series, which is having a negative impact on the young generation. They are getting wrong inspiration and they are getting attracted towards the world of crime.
Many episodes of two seasons of Mirzapur web series have already been aired and the third season is going to be released on July 5. If the wrong image of Mirzapur is presented in the episodes of this season too, then it will be very negative for all of us. Therefore, appropriate steps need to be taken to ban season three of the web series. Poetess Srishti Raj and social worker Anand Agrahari etc. were present on this occasion. The Municipal Chairman assured to take appropriate steps in this regard.
