Moradabad, June 24 (HS). Taking seriously the laxity being shown in tax collection on the basis of GIS survey and the confusion regarding GIS survey, Municipal Commissioner Divyanshu Patel on Monday sought clarification from Additional Municipal Commissioner (First) Atul Kumar and Chief Tax Assessment Officer (CKNK) Aarti Singh. He has also warned to write a letter to the government for action against both of them if a satisfactory answer is not received.
The Municipal Commissioner said that a review is being done at the government level regarding tax collection. Despite this, the collection in the city area is far behind the target set by the government. In the year 2024-25, house tax is to be collected on the basis of GIS survey only. But in the review it was found that clarification has also been sought from the GIS Chief Tax Assessment Officer (CKNK) that tax collection is to be done on the basis of GIS survey, bills are not being distributed on the basis of survey. There is confusion about this among the city residents as well. Despite the instructions, tax collection has not been started by setting up camps.
Taking this seriously, the Municipal Commissioner has sought an explanation from Additional Municipal Commissioner (First) and Senior In-charge Tax Atul Kumar and Chief Tax Assessment Officer Aarti Singh within three days. He has also warned to write to the government for taking action against both of them if the reply is not correct in the show cause notice.
