Ghaziabad, June 23 (HS). Under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academy (Culture Department) and Thirteen School of Talent Development, a theatrical adaptation of two stories by Vijaynath Detha was presented in the auditorium of Hindi Bhavan on Sunday. The play 'Ek Tha Gadaria' presented under the direction of Akshayvarnath Srivastava was based on two stories 'Manushya Ka Gadaria' and 'Duvidha'. Through the play, a satire has been made on the hypocrisy in the name of religion and knowledge in the society.
In “Manushya Ka Gadaria” it is shown that a person, on the basis of religion and so-called knowledge, not only drives the herd of humans like a shepherd, but that hypocrite person also spreads superstition by trapping the simple masses in his sweet talk. But the shepherd, on the basis of his experience and logic, not only defeats the so-called religious leader but also makes the people aware. On the other hand, in the story “Duvidha” it is shown that a person suddenly gets trapped in such a “dilemma” which he himself is not aware of. This drama, which progresses by connecting two stories, moves forward creating interest with every new scene. According to the plot, the wedding procession of Seth Mayapati’s only son Manmohan, on its return, stops in the dense shade of a Khejri tree to rest. Coincidentally, the ghost living on that Khejri tree becomes enamored with the bride. The ghost was looking for a way out of the web of his love, on the other hand Manmohan leaves the newly married woman and goes abroad for business for five years. Both of them meet on the way and the ghost enters the house in the guise of the Seth's son.
Even before Manmohan's return home, the story takes such a turn that he has to return home before time. After reaching home, he also gets into a dilemma. Because of the ghost changing his form and living as a son, not only Manmohan but his family and the villagers face the problem of his identity. The shepherd not only clears the confusion but also does justice like separating milk from water.
All the actors brought life to the play with their acting skills in every scene. Abhinav Sachdeva in the role of the shepherd, Rajiv Vaidya as the ghost, Shivam Singhal as Manmohan, Simran Mishra as Angoori (the bride), Praveen Dahal as the Maulvi, besides Aryan Solomon, Shreyash Agnihotri, Taruna Pal, Aditi Solomon playing other roles displayed their acting abilities to the fullest. They brought life to their roles.
Adit Srivastava and Shreyash Agnihotri, who played the role of Sutradhar, also received a lot of praise from the audience. Songs and music played an important role in maintaining the liveliness of the play. The songs of the play have been written by Ajay Kumar, Professor of Acting at National School of Drama. The music has been composed by Anil Mishra and Rajesh Pathak, also from National School of Drama. The makeup has been done by senior makeup director Hari Singh Kholia.
