While filing the return, you are required to upload Form 26AS and Annual Information Statement (AIS). Through this you can get information about TDS and other financial transactions. With the help of which ITR can be filed easily.

How to download AIS?

AIS can be accessed from the official return filing website of the Income Tax Department. In which you have to go to www.incometax.gov.in and login. In which click on AIS on the homepage. Later two tabs-Instructions and AIS will appear. In which you can select AIS after reading the instructions. Then you can download it. You have to provide PAN and date of birth for user ID and password.

Verify these details in AIS

It is necessary to disclose all income and expenses while filing income tax return. You have to give information about all your financial transactions and TDS. So that you do not forget any information while filling the ITR form. AIS and Form 26AS contain the complete history of taxpayers' transactions. So check it carefully and fill the ITR form.

If incorrect data is found in the AIS, it must be corrected

If you find any data wrong in Form-16, 26AS and AIS, then you have to report it on the Income Tax Department portal. AIS has a system to deal with complaints. To use it, first you have to login to the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. Later, after verifying the information, if you find wrong data, then you can report it.

How to complain?

If you find any mistake in Part B of AIS, you can complain. Part B includes taxpayer's income, TDS, specified financial transactions, etc. To complain, you have to select 'Bulk Feedback'. Then select the specific transaction of incorrect information in which you have found an error. After that click on 'Continue'. In the Feedback dropdown menu, you have to specify the reason for the complaint. Then click on 'Submit'. If your complaint is accepted, you have to download the revised AIS and file ITR.
